Someone once asked me What is the large disparity in prices on Imperlux and other manufacturers crystal pieces? As with most other crystal/glass manufacturers, different levels of their product are made and offered.

Then you can take into account the age, quality and condition of a crystal piece. The older the age, the quality and amount of craftsmanship and level of condition usually amounts to a higher value piece. The disparity in price comes from the amount of work put into the item. In this case, this decanter has been given several layers (cased) of crystal before cutting with wheels down into the clear layer. Less expensive pieces may be flashed which means the crystal has been tinted. Some lesser value may not be as cut intensive as higher value pieces. Higher quality pieces will be much heavier due to higher lead amount (making deep cutting more attainable) and more layers of crystal applied. Most crystal houses make 3 tiers of products, 1 tier for jewelry and high end stores such as Bloomingdales, Saks Fifth Avenue, Tiffanys and so forth. I do my very best to disclose any flaws that I find on an item. That does not mean that a flaw may be unseen or overlooked by me. Everything I sell is aged.

To have no flaws, imperfections or signs of age such as wear on a vintage or antique item is near impossible. If you are looking for something that is absolutely perfect, please look at purchasing something that is brand new and in its own box. Most of the items that I sell are found at estate sales unless otherwise noted so I cannot vouch for their provenance or history.
