Antique Drawn Trumpet Bowl Faceted Cut Stem Small Wine Glass c 1780. An eighteenth century Georgian period drawn trumpet bowled small wine glass with faceted cut stem. This is a highly collectable antique drinking glass hand blown in lead crystal with its distinctive greyish tinge. The glass dates from around 1780 and as well as the cut stem, has lens cuts near the rim and engraved line detailing either side of this band.
There is also the engraved name Ann Holland on the bowl. This could possibly also be a play on words as the glass could also be used for gin and the name Hollands was used for gin in the 18th century. The glass stands approx 4 3/4 inches high and the foot has a diameter of 2 1/2 inches. The foot has a polished pontil and the foot itself has been slightly mis-formed with a minor lip which has some chipping or roughness. The glass is otherwise in excellent condition and weighs 96g.It makes a lovely ring when tapped with the finger. This is a great item to add to any collection of antique drinking glasses - even better if your name is Ann Holland!
